The Lincoln Theater and Southwest Virginia Community College present

Pianist Vladimir Valjarevic

Piano Works by Beethoven, Rameau, Debussy, and Godowsky
The critics have praised Vladimir Valjarevic for his "caressing legato," "silk-on-velvet seductiveness" (Fanfare Magazine), "beautiful lyricism and a wide variety of tones and colorings, perceptively applied with care" (All Music Guide), and as “an outstandingly responsive partner and superb tonalist” (The Strad).  Committed to exploration of contemporary repertoire, Valjarevic has worked under direction of various composers including Lukas Foss, Dick Hyman, James Cohn, David Tcimpidis, Benjamin Lees, Michael Cohen, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Keith Fitch, Dan Cooper, Ellen Lindquist. In addition, he performed in European premiere of Cage’s dance drama "Four Walls" in Berlin and Hamburg and world premieres of Vrebalov’s and Hyman’s compositions with Knoxville Symphony at Southwest Virginia Festival for the Arts.
Born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vladimir Valjarevic came to New York City on a scholarship from Mannes College of Music, where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees as a recipient of Marian Marcus Wahl Performance Award.  For more information, visit www.vladimirvaljarevic.com.
