The Lincoln Theatre presents They Call Me Aunt Orlene Performance and Book Signing Event Actress Phyllis Stump will perform this one woman show about the life of Southwest Virginia midwife Orlene Puckett. Puckett became a local legend, living to be over 100 years old and delivering more than 1,000 babies in her lifetime. Stump takes her traveling story around the mountain regions, picking up new information at each performance and incorporating it into her work. The story is told from the heart, so each telling may have new moments of inspiration, new anecdotes, and new echoes from the past.
This play is written by Stump who is a retired English, speech and drama teacher. She has many years experience with the community theatre and has published a book of poetry that earned her an award from the North Carolina Poetry Council.
Stump has just published a memoir about Orlene Puckett. After the live performance, books will be available for purchase and Mrs. Stump will gladly sign and talk with patrons.
